We are so delighted to tell you that the Argus Quartet has been awarded first prize in the strings division of the M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition! In addition to the $20,000 award, we’ll be visiting the University of Michigan next season for a short residency through their awesome new Department of Chamber Music.
We are also very pleased to announce that the Argus Quartet will begin an appointment as the Graduate String Quartet in Residence at The Juilliard School in the fall of 2017. As Lisa Arnhold Fellows, we’ll have lessons and guidance from the members of the Juilliard String Quartet. We will also assist them with ensemble and chamber music instruction, in addition to other teaching duties. As part of our residency, we will give our Lincoln Center recital debut in May 2018 in Alice Tully Hall.
We will definitely miss Yale, the Brentano Quartet, our outrageously smart and talented undergraduate chamber music students, and the picturesque beachfront setting we’ve enjoyed so much during these past two years in Connecticut.
But our new life in New York City gives us so much to look forward to. Here are just a few of the things each one of us is already getting super-excited about:
Clara: “Finding my dream apartment. Two stories, a backyard, a parking garage, and a doorman. Fingers crossed that it’s within walking distance to Lincoln Center!”
Jo: “Obviously the food. Breakfast – Absolute Bagels. Lunch – Xi’an Famous Foods. Dinner – Dough Doughnuts. I’m already hungry.”
Jason: “Making 8 million new friends. Also, finally being close to my two favorite places, Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar and M&M’s World.”
Dana: “Spending more quality time with Pizza Rat.” https://www.youtube.com/
